About Armenly
Armenly is a free catalog and player for Armenian music — pop and rabiz, kef and wedding music, folk and ashughakan, rap and rock, duduk and jazz — that works in any browser, with no account and no subscription.
What it is
Much of the Armenian repertoire is thinly documented in English, scattered across uploads with a dozen spellings of the same name. Armenly gathers it into one catalog: every artist with a page of their own, their releases and their best-known songs, grouped by genre and by decade, with new releases added as they come out.
Songs play in YouTube’s own player, so a play here counts for the artist. Armenly does not host, store or upload any music or video, and nothing can be downloaded.
How the catalog is built
Artist, release and song data comes from public music metadata and is cross-linked to each artist’s own uploads. Names are romanised the way the music is searched for in English, with the Armenian forms kept alongside.
Genres, eras and moods are assigned by a classification pass and checked by audits that look for duplicates, mismatched uploads and songs that are not Armenian at all. When something is wrong, a note to the address below is the fastest way to fix it.
