Privacy Policy

No ads, no cookies, no profile of you, and you can use all of it without an account. What Armenly counts, it counts anonymously — totals, never people.

What stays on your device

Without an account, your library lives in your browser’s local storage and never leaves:

  • Liked songs
  • Playlists you make
  • Artists you follow
  • Recently played
  • Recent searches
  • Settings like shuffle and repeat, and whether usage counting is off
  • The day you last opened Armenly, for counting
  • The playback log under Settings, unless playback fails (see below)

If you make an account

It is optional, and it does one thing: it keeps that list when you clear your browser, and brings it to your other phone.

We hold your email address and a copy of that library. That is the whole record — no name, no password, no profile, no advertising id. Recent searches are not part of it.

Signing in is a passkey on your device, or a code we email you. A passkey never leaves your device. A code is stored only as a hash, lasts ten minutes, and is deleted once used. We keep a record of sign-in attempts for ninety days, to spot anyone trying to break in.

Closing your account from Settings deletes all of it immediately. The copy on your device is untouched.

What our server sees

Search, the charts and radio are answered by Armenly’s server. It sees the song you asked for and your IP address, which is used to keep the service from being abused, and neither is tied to a profile. It also remembers which video matches which song — a fact about the song, not about you.

What we count

Armenly keeps a daily tally of how it is used: songs played, searches made, screens opened and playlists shared, with the device’s kind, system and browser and a rough location beside each — the city your network places you in, never GPS.

It also notes the site that linked you here, such as instagram.com, and how many days since this device last opened Armenly.

Nothing in it is you: no cookie, no device id, no advertising id. Your address is never stored — it becomes a hash under a key that is replaced every night and thrown away, so one day’s counts cannot be joined to the next, or to you.

The detail is deleted after thirty days; only totals are kept. Turn all of it off in Settings, under Privacy.

When playback goes wrong

When playback visibly fails, such as a song skipping for silence, the app sends us its player log so we can fix it. You can also send it yourself from Settings.

It holds songs and what the player did, not you: stored like the counts above, and deleted after thirty days. Turning off usage counting stops it.

How songs play

Songs play in YouTube’s own player, inside the app. While it runs, YouTube can set cookies and collect usage data exactly as it would on youtube.com, under Google’s Privacy Policy. We have no say in what it collects.

Playlists you share

Sharing a playlist publishes its name, description and song list behind a link anyone holding it can open. Nothing about you goes with it. Keep anything private out of the name and description. Shared playlists expire after a year.

Cookies

Armenly sets no cookies of its own and loads no advertising or third-party tracking scripts. The counting above is our own, happens on our server, and follows nobody between sites. Signing in stores a token in local storage rather than a cookie, and signing out removes it. The exception is YouTube’s player, which behaves like YouTube.

Your data, your choices

Without an account, everything is on your device: clearing site data for armenly.com removes all of it, and there is no copy on our side. With an account there is one, and closing it from Settings deletes that outright.

If you live somewhere that grants statutory rights over personal data — the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or laws such as the CCPA — write to us and we will do what they require. Personal information is not sold, and never has been.

Security

Armenly is served only over HTTPS and holds almost nothing about you to begin with. Requests are answered from wherever is nearest you, so the little that is processed may be processed outside your country. No service can promise perfect security.

Children

Armenly is not for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and it will be deleted.
